About
Welcome to the Long Wave Theory Blog, where I offer my observations on the state of our society and economy. Over the years I have become concerned that discourse and analysis of the US economy lacks any fundamental understanding of the causes of our current situation, thus our policy decisions are grossly misguided and ineffective.
Regardless of what you hear in the mainstream media, our economy is decidedly not on the road to recovery. Far from it. There are deeply fundamental things wrong and neither Democrats nor Republicans are going to fix them–forget about Libertarians and the followers of Ron Paul. While they understand the problem better than anyone (as a group) their approach is untenable.
I don’t have the answers to our society’s ills. We’ve created a Gordian knot of monstrous proportions and there is no easy way to undue what a century of chasing free market ghosts has done to our country. But I hope that if people begin to take a longer horizon view of things, perhaps smart people of good moral character will begin to prevail on the discussions and policies and just maybe we’ll get through this ok.
This blog is my hobby and as such I don’t spent a lot of time on it. I post frequent commentaries on news articles I think represent clear analysis and sound reasoning. I don’t always agree with everything said, but in general I think the authors of the posts I highlight have illustrated a point that is lost on 99.999% of the population.
I hope you enjoy the commentary and will become a regular reader and participant in the Long Wave Theory Blog.
